Q3 2023 - Face photo changes
There is no longer a requirement for candidates to hold up a document as part of their self photo capture in the police check process.
Instead candidates simply need to capture a passport-style photo of themselves. The photos should be captured face-on without any obstructions and clear lighting.
The candidate instructions and help guide are all being updated as a part of the roll-out of this change. Your candidates should simply read the on-screen instructions to be guided as to the correct capture requirements.
The roll-out is expected to occur on Thursday the 31st August.
Both old and new style photos will be accepted during a transisional period of several weeks.
FAQs
Which clients are affected
All clients which use the candidate police, right-to-work, or identity check processes are affected. Clients which are only using API services (such as VEVO) without the candidate experience are not affected. Legacy (non-cobranded) police check clients are not affected.
When is the roll-out expected
The roll-out is planned for Thursday the 31st of August although this timing is subject to change. Our processing system for old-style photos will remain for the forseeable future, so if candidates submit photos in this format then they will still be accepted.
Is liveness checking still occuring
Yes the photo liveness checking is still occuring but this is now done using alternative methods.
Do I need to inform my candidates
All candidate documentation and support is provided by National Crime Check and is being updated as part of this change. You most likely do not need to inform your candidates. If you are providing your own in-house guide documentation then this may need updating.
